CYR TOURNAMENT BEGINS

We are excited for our first game of the season taking place on Saturday, Dec 6 at North Meck Park on Huntersville.

Last Season we added our first Girls Only division and fielded 8 Falcons players and welcomed players from other clubs to combine. We played against Clover and won all of our games. This season we registered 15 players! Absolutely delighted!

We welcomed new players discovering rugby for the first time. Everyone is excited, nervous and looking forward to play!

I have Coach Maaka Tuionetoa ( Tonga) assisting me this season. He is also in the Huskies Girls ( High School) Coaching team with me and Coach Alex Darbousset ( 12U) . Huskies mentors have been helping the girls at practice. I am from Malaysia!

Our graduated minis of last season is now in the U8 competitive age making their debut playing against Lake Wylie . This is a tackle division with rucks and kicks. They have been practicing hard this past weeks! The rising stars of USA Rugby in the making. They will be let loose on Saturday and you do not want to miss this wonderful chaos - the men responsible Coach Aaron Kemmling ( USA) and Coach Greg Powell (USA). The Mighty Minis takes their space every Monday for 45mins with Coach David McGowan . This little rugby players are just natural at following fun drills . What they lack in numbers they made up in intensity and skills. They also have a former Professional Irish Rugby and International La Rochelle ( France ) .. all we need now is a Minis league so do bring your littles to play!

10U Teams are the powerhouse last season with the Coach Dan Tobias ( USA) and this year joining the team is Coach Damien Russell (Australia) and Coach Chris Miller ( USA). The kids are set to compete again and have been refining skills at every practice! They are ready and I can’t wait to see them in action!

12U Boys welcome many new players this season and with the combined forces of our awesome Coach Pony ( USA) and Coach Alex Darbousset ( France) who just joined us this season, the team is making waves!

Watch out for some subtle tricks in the game which the French are renowned for. Last Season Coach Antonio Perez ( Spain) helped out , he has since decided to pursue Refereeing and he will be with us on Game Day!

14U Boys Team is the largest number this season with the most rising Freshman!

Coach Matt Whitaker (UK) and Coach Robert Barkman (USA) and the return of Coach Mike Sherwood who coached Hough Rugby High School Team ( now Huskies) before Covid.

With assistance from Huskies Mentors have been working together to develop player’s skills. The teams Forwards are looking incredible!!

Last season our 14U was shy of a try to win the Championship against Marvin Ridge. They are eager to get out on the field and show up what they have been working on.

This feeder group will continue to play rugby in high school with our Huskies Boys Rugby under Head Coach Bruce Colson, Coach Ken , Coach Bruce Hildyard and Coach Carlos Guerrero.

Huskies Boys Rugby: Winter 15s

The High School Boys Rugby tournament begins this week with a game TONIGHT against South Charlotte

We are fielding 2 Team - A Sides & B Sides

Kick -Off at 6.15pm for A Side followed by B Side at 8pm.

Some of the boys played in the Fall 7s and secured the 5th State Championship title!!

In the Winter 15s, the A Side has won 2 State titles!

This season they will be challenged by South Charlotte, South Meck , Marvin Ridge & Capitals ( Raleigh) . Games are Fridays and some may fall on Sunday.

Huskies Girls Rugby:

We are currently running Winter Pre-Season and Conditioning, building ball handling skills, speed and confidence to prepare them for the upcoming season .

The High School Girls team play in the Fall & Spring . This Fall we fielded U19 and U16 teams and in Spring we look forward to welcome players for 15s asides .

Recruiting is in progress with registration for Spring beginning January.

Both Boys and Girls team competes in the North Carolina Youth Rugby Union tournament.
