Thank You Falcons For an AMAZING Season!

Huskies News

We are proud of our Huskies Boys who played their heart out at the State Final. Having earned the State titles in 2022 & 2024, it wasn’t to be…not this season . Charlotte Catholic won their first State Championship .

A note from Falcons Club President and Huskies Boys Head Coach - Bruce Colson

Dear Parents, players, supporters and sponsors. Well winter season is over (but the weather isn’t ☹️) and I know it’s been hard on everyone with what seems a colder winter than normal. Nonetheless the significant sense of community and support we have felt at the Huskies from within and outside the teams has been immense.

We are already getting excited for the next season knowing we have our players from middle school coming in to keep us at the top end of the pile.

We wish our seniors the greatest success in their next endeavors and as always we’ll keep tracking their progress on and off the field.

Looking forward to seeing you at the end of season awards and get together.

My heart is full!

When we started Falcons Rugby Club 4 years ago, I was projecting a dream for an All Girls team. And look where we are now. This season we have 11 Falcons and were joined by players from Marvin Ridge, Holy Trinity and Alexander Graham for a total of 17 players to become the Charlotte Falcons. We are a powerhouse of siblings with Maxine and Leelah Gizzi whose older sister Cassandra plays in our Huskies team, Nora Tobias whose younger brother Sam is in U10 . Major Williams whose older brother Tyson plays with the Huskies Boys, Brooke deBree who oldest sister is a Huskies alumni , Breanne Badger with her older brother Timothy playing with the Huskies, Adriana Carter-Barkman whose older brother is in U14, Daytona Miller whose younger brother is in U10, Ellen Lyons whose two older sisters are Huskies alumnis and Bella Whitaker with older brother Bobby in the U14s, older sister Lottee playing with the Huskies and 3 elder brothers all of whom are Huskies alumni.

This is a family affair!

This winter we played against the only other girls team participating in the tournament, Clover Middle School.

The results have been absolutely staggering! The girls scored over 200 points!.

More so, what I am thrilled and proud of is the relentless effort by each member of the team to learn and become better at each game, the confidence instilled from the courage to give it a go! They have cultivated a bond of sisterhood which I know will be carried through in their lives. We will miss Brooke deBree and Zoey Fairbanks , rising freshmen and I look forward to them joining me in the Huskies Girls team. Thank You very much dear Parents for your support. Let's Celebrate together at our End of Season Celebration!

Falcons Boys U14 - Season Review & Championship Victory 🏆

Coach Matt Whitaker, Coach Robert Barkman, Coach Mike Sherwood.

What a season it has been for our U14 Falcons.

From the very first training session, this group showed commitment, grit, and a real willingness to learn. Week after week, the players grew — not just in skill and understanding of the game, but in teamwork, discipline, and resilience. They supported one another through tough matches, pushed themselves in training, and represented the Falcons with pride every time they stepped onto the field.

All of that hard work culminated in an incredible performance in the championship game, where the Falcons delivered a dominant 50–14 victory to claim the title. It was a true team win — strong defense, smart decision-making, relentless effort, and unselfish play across the board. Every player contributed, whether on the scoreboard or in the countless small moments that don’t always show up in the stats.

Just as important as the result was how this team played the game. The Falcons competed with intensity while showing respect for opponents, officials, and the spirit of rugby. That balance of competitiveness and sportsmanship is something every coach hopes to see, and this group delivered all season long.

A huge thank you to the players for their dedication, to the parents and families for their constant support, and to everyone who helped make this season possible. This championship is something the players should be extremely proud of — it reflects months of effort, growth, and belief in one another.

And finally a special thank you and shout-out to Coach Robert Barkman and Coach Mike Sherwood for their dedication, leadership, and countless hours spent developing these young athletes. Their commitment to teaching the game the right way — emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, and character — played a huge role in this team’s success and growth throughout the season.

Congratulations to the U14 Falcons — 2025 Champions. Well deserved.

Falcons U12- Coach Domenic Polzella ( Pony) , Coach Alex Darbousset and Coach Tyrell Hudson

Coach Alex..

When we started 3 monthes ago, we had a team made of 75 % of neophytes. Through hard work and laugh we manage to end the season with a full rugby team. We are proud these 20 boys became a bunch of friends and even manage to make it to the finals. We are very proud of all their achievements and hope the best for them.

Falcons U10- Coach Dan Tobias, Coach Damien Russell and Coach Chris Miller

This season was an absolute joy from beginning to end. More than half the team showed up on day one having never played rugby before, yet you wouldn’t have known it for long. The kids picked up the rhythm, the rules, and the spirit of the game with a speed that genuinely impressed all of us. Watching their confidence grow week after week was one of the highlights of the entire year.

What made this group special wasn’t just the learning curve, though — it was the way they came together. This was a remarkably team-like team. Every player contributed something unique, whether it was hustle, communication, grit, or simply showing up with a great attitude. They supported each other, celebrated each other, and played in a way that made the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

It was also a very young squad, with many players likely eligible to return at this age level next year. That’s exciting, because the foundation they built this season is only going to make them stronger, more confident, and even more fun to coach moving forward.

And speaking of fun — we had it in spades. Practices were fun, games were fun, even the cold, slushy, days were fun. This group brought energy and joy to everything we did. Truly, it was so much fun.

Falcons U8- Division Champion

Coach Aaron Kemmling and Coach Greg Powell

Coach Greg…

Short on firepower the Falcon U8’s, with the help of two Tigers, trusted their training fundamentals to pull them through a successful final match day. Solid ball control unleashed key players with a plethora of breakaway opportunities. Minimal knock-ons and discipline in tackles were a testament to their growth over the course of the season. Most of our U8's will be graduating and so we look forward to seeing how their speed and tenacity contribute to their next level of play.
